Working in a Russian newspaper, I asked once my unmarried friends to write a “want a husband” ad in a newspaper. Gosh, what was happening! The clever and beautiful ladies, who were, for many reasons, lonely and suffering from their solitude, lost their abilities to think, write and read, all at the same time. Just one of them managed to finish a paragraph and send it to the newspaper. However, she stalled off the candidates whenever she heard a male voice on the phone. She was awfully afraid of disappointment.
