The Excellence Seeker and the Life Winner: What’s the Difference?

The Excellence Seeker and the Life Winner often have the same starting potential, but they choose different life strategies.
An Excellence Seeker becomes a hostage of his or her own image. S/he wants to seem knowledgeable, skilful and successful. Therefore, after achieving success, s/he falls into the trap of worrying about keeping success and appearances of it instead of feeling successful, feeling worthy of success and adequate to it, and instead of being knowledgeable, skilful and successful.
Therefore, s/he perceives any test of success and clarifying questions as a threat to his/her image. S/he is trained in such a way. In school and college, teachers asked him/her questions to give him/her marks. The answer to the question had to coincide with the teacher’s opinion; otherwise an Excellence Seeker could get an unsatisfactory mark, and poor rating was a disaster for him/her. Different answer or an argument with a teacher was considered a rebellion, which had to be nipped in the bud.
And even if it is clear that the teacher is another human being made of flesh and blood, and his/her approach is just one of the many, at the unconscious level an Excellence Seeker reacts in the same way perceiving questions as something dangerous. At dangerous times, our limbic system gives a command to run away or fight.
Being unaware of something or having no answer to the question right here and now constitutes a threat to an Excellence Seeker. S/he just needs to know everything, otherwise s/he cannot be an A student! Hence the feverish accumulation of any information in case someone asks or forgets something. Hence the permanent anticipation of mischief and failure.
S/he cannot see that someone could ask questions as a potential partner and assistant, and that the questions can really open up new resourceful sides of his/her achievements. S/he will be giving automatic excuses, attacking, or simply hiding in a cage in which s/he has lived until now.
Instead of using opportunities, an Excellence Seeker will automatically sever all links and override the way to new achievements.
What does a Life Winner do in such cases? S/he does not need to look prosperous, s/he is simply happy because of learning something new and getting a great result. S/he knows that this result was deserved, having applied the right tool to the right object at the right place at the right time with the right force. All natural and logical.
It is natural that his/her success draws attention of other people! A Life Winner would clarify the questions addressed to him/her and respond to it without any tension. And then s/he will find a new idea as a starting point to a new achievement.
It is particularly disastrous for an Excellence Seeker if s/he has not understood something. An Excellence Seeker must understand everything at a glance. No, an Excellence Seeker is simply obliged to read the thoughts of others! And if so, then s/he is obliged to read them correctly! That means – yes, “I’m the Excellence Seeker, so never dare you say that I do not understand you! I do… Yes I do… “
Asking questions to the teacher is a blasphemy, even if an Excellence Seeker has not understood something. For the same reason: it is impossible to question the authority of teachers! Therefore, an Excellence Seeker is looking for teachers who are easier to cope with so that his/her ego would not suffer from a misunderstanding, and tries not to overpay.
And thereby an Excellence Seeker misses an amazing opportunity to really learn something new from the original source.
What does a Life Winner do? S/he uses any chance to ask questions to the Master and gain first-hand new knowledge to incorporate it into his/her business, into his/her life and to achieve new successes. So s/he is looking for outstanding teachers and ready to pay for it adequately without a doubt. S/he knows that these investments will pay back time and time again.
And thereby a Life Winner lays the foundation for new successes.
For an Excellence Seeker, someone’s disagreeing with his/her opinion is a catastrophe, because it challenges his/her credibility.
For a Life Winner, someone’s disagreeing with his/her opinion is an opportunity to look at a phenomenon from a different perspective and to find out what improvements are needed for achieving better results.
